maple sugaring
This is the sap boiler I made for maple sugaring. I made it from a 50-gallon oil drum by cutting holes in it for the boiling pans, the door and the chimney, and then placing it on its side. I only have five trees tapped, but we make enough maple syrup to supply my family for the year.
engineering calculations
This is a sample of my work from structural analysis class. In this homework I was using the virtual work method to determine the virtual displacement and then solve for the required support reaction at point B. this is an example of my ability to perform complex structural calculations that involve calculus.
This is the final presentation of a structural design project I worked on in a team of four students in my structural design class. I was responsible for designing the member layout and selecting members to be as economical as possible, while not obstructing architectural features of the building. I also write the entire final report, and designed half the members. Because I took the lead role in the project, I was in charge of ensuring that the project was of high quality and submitted on time.

lathe
This video shows the wood lathe that I designed and built. I built it from wood and a reused motor from my mom’s broken clothes dryer.
Drill press
This is a prototype I made of my alternative design for a drill press.
bike trailer
This is the bike trailer that I made in high school because I didn’t have a car.
wood unicycle
I steamed wood and bent it around a mold to make the frame of a wooden unicycle.
